Donetsk, Jun 12 - DAN. Donetsk philharmonic launched a social project Evening By The Fountain with live performances on the streets of the city, said the orchestra's press service.

"Residents and visitors of Donetsk now have a place where they can listen to professional musician for free on Sunday evenings - music will be played at Lenin Square on June 18, 25, August 6, 13, 20, September 3, 10, 17, 24 from 5.30 p.m. to 7 p.m."

The project was organized following the initiative of Donetsk administration cultural department. "Musicians will be playing waltz, tango and soundtracks to films, and modern tunes," said the philharmonic director Alexander Paretskiy.

The Donetsk State Academic Philharmonic in central city's district Voroshilovskiy houses an organ great Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky was playing when he was a student at St. Petersburg Conservatory. The Philharmonic organizes international festivals such as Prokofiev Spring, Donetskiye Samotsvety, Jazz Forum, Piano Forum, etc.  In the course of its 85-year-long history the Philharmonic closed only once from 1941 to 1944. *ot
