Donetsk, Jul 19 — DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic Honored Artist Natalia Kachura has sung a song at the White Nights festival in St Petersburg in memory of a DPR activist killed by Ukrainian artillery fire.

Together with Viktoria Daineko, she came onto the stage to perform “My City, ” which was recorded on December 6, 2022 by Maria Pirogova, a DPR parliamentarian, volunteer and singer. A Ukrainian shell killed her and her two colleagues — Andrey Starintsev and Vadim Lobuzov — during a pause between recording sessions.

The festival is taking place in Russia’s second largest city on July 18-19, with support from Russian Radio and TV channel RU.TV.  The performers include Nkolai Baskov, Dima Bilan, Yelena Vaenga, Rodion Gazmanov, Stas Pyekha, Anna Semenovich, Denis Maidanov, Lyubov Uspenskaya, Yulia Mikhalchik, Zemplyane band etc.

Maria Pirogova was born in Donetsk on May 13, 1993. She attended school N 139 and graduated from the Donetsk State University of Management (renamed to Donetsk Academy of Management and Civil Service under the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic). She worked at the DPR Information Ministry from 2015 to 2018. In 2018, she was elected to the parliament as a nominee of the Donetsk Republic social movement. Maria was secretary of the DPR parliament committee on external policy, international relations, information policy and IT technology, and engaged in volunteer and creative activities.*jk
