Donetsk, Nov 16 — DAN. The Petrovsky machine-building plant in Donetsk has begun to produce audio equipment based on vacuum tube technology, the company’s Acting Director Sergei Tkachenko told the Donetsk News Agency on Thursday.

“We’ve returned to good old vacuum tubes, ” Tkachenko said. “They have unprecedented quality and today, we’ve revived the traditions that made our country great in the old days.” It’s a world audiophilia development trend where engineers turn back to electron tubes, horn acoustics and high fidelity sound.

The production of acoustic equipment based on electron tube circuits decreased due to new stage concepts and the emergence of new subcultures such as hard rock, metal rock, and electronic musical instruments that created entirely new audiences, he said.   Whereas electron tube amplifiers and small concert halls were enough for jazz and symphonic music, new bands moved their show venues to stadiums.

Electronic sound has lower quality requirements when we talk about stadium acoustics. Vacuum tube equipment produces a soft, refined and very comfortable sound for listening to music at home or in halls with small audiences. Also, it has dependable performance and long service life compared to transistor circuits with the capacitors which periodically need to be replaced, Tkachenko said.

The Donetsk News Agency reported that the Petrovsky mahcine-buiding plant had already produced some 50 quality acoustic systems which are cheaper than western counterparts.*jk
