Donetsk, Nov 17 — DAN. The Military Construction Company of the Russian Defense Ministry has handed over nearly 600 new apartments to Mariupol residents, a Russian lawmaker told the Donetsk News Agency on Thursday.
“So far, we have information that keys to 1,000 apartments in newly-built houses will be handed over to Mariupol residents by year-end, ” said chairman of the committee on construction, housing and utilities under the State Duma lower house of the Russian parliament Sergey Pakhomov. “Deputy Prime Minister (Marat) Khusnullin said so, and more than 30,000 buildings are now working on it; their number in the region has been steadily increasing.”
“I know that the Military Construction Company has already handed over some 600 apartments to residents, ” he said.
In addition to housing construction and restoration, it is necessary to thoroughly modernize the city infrastructure, connect the new buildings to utility lines and develop the public areas, the lawmaker added.
The Military Construction Company was set up in October 2019 to build, renovate and overhaul military and social infrastructure facilities. It has been engaged in Donbass housing and infrastructure projects since the summer of 2022. The company is using most of its resources in Mariupol which took severe damage from fighting.*jk
