Donetsk, Nov 16 — DAN. Seven athletes from the Donetsk People’s Republic have joined Russia’s summer Olympic sports teams, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Sport told the Donetsk News Agency on Thursday.
“They are members of junior teams, a promising reserve for the first teams, ” the press service said adding that DPR representatives had shown good results in boxing and weightlifting.
A number of legal acts have been adopted since February 2022 to facilitate the integration of the DPR’s physical culture and sports in the Russian system.
Integration measures helped ensure the continuity of training and competing processes for athletes and coaches, improve sport industry personnel skills, repair existing sport centers and build new ones and purchase new equipment and sportswear, the Ministry said.
Twelve outdoor sport and recreation centers will be built in the Donetsk People’s Republic by the end of 2025. In Donetsk, construction companies launched repairs on four sport facilities.*jk
