Donetsk, Nov 28 — DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic athletes have taken part in more than 180 competitions held in Russian regions this year, said the Russian Ministry of Sport.
“DPR athletes have been active participants of 181 tournaments of all levels included in the national and international schedule of sport events in 2023, ” the Ministry told the Donetsk News Agency.
At present, restrictions on Russian athletes’ participation in international competitions are in effect. To provide athletes with competitive practice, Russia hosts “open format” tournaments which welcome representatives of foreign countries without any discriminatory restrictions. These competitions also involve DPR athletes, it said.
The Russian Ministry of Sport earlier said that large competitions might be held in the DPR after provision of security in the region.*jk
