Donetsk, Oct 1 — DAN. President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the residents of the Russian Federation on Day of Reunification of the new regions with Russia, the Kremlin press service reported.
“Thank you for preserving and passing on your love for the Fatherland to your children despite all the trials. Thanks to you, your fortitude and determination, Russia has become even stronger. We are one people, and together we can overcome anything and meet any challenge, ” said the president in his address to the residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions on Saturday.
The reunification of the four regions was a historic event resulting from the conscious, long-awaited, hard-won and genuinely popular decision, made collectively through referenda in full compliance with international norms, he said.
On September 28, Putin signed the federal law on establishing a commemorative date, the Day of Reunification of the new regions with Russia, on September 30. *jk
