Donetsk, Dec 25 — DAN. The town of Maryinka east of Donetsk is fully liberated from Ukrainian troops, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to President Vladimir Putin on Monday.

“Task Force ‘South’ assault groups have fully liberated the Maryinka settlement in offensive operations today, ” Shoigu said.

The capture of the powerful enemy stronghold decreases Ukraine’s defense capability and opens additional opportunities for Russian troops on this axis, he said.

Maryinka which borders on western outskirts of Donetsk has been a hot frontline since the beginning of the conflict. Ukrainian military regularly shelled DPR neighborhoods from positions in Maryinhka, including Donetsk’s Petrovsky and Kirovsky districts, the Alexandrovka settlement and the Luganskoye village.*jk
