Donetsk, Mar 15 — DAN. The Federation Council upper house of the Russian parliament on Wednesday has approved the law on termination of Ukrainian citizenship by Russian Federation citizens from the date of submission of the renunciation statement to the Russian Interior Ministry.
“This mechanism will enable these Russian citizens to exercise their right to employment at government or municipal bodies <…> train at education institutes where prospective students can have access to confidential information and deal with other issues whose solution is impeded by Ukrainian citizenship, ” the FC international committee said.
On Tuesday, the parliament approved the 2nd and 3rd reading of the law which creates a legal mechanism for Russian citizens who wish to withdraw from Ukrainian citizenship. The renunciation statement is forwarded to Russian Interior Ministry bodies and can be submitted online on the “Gosuslugi” public services portal.*jk
