Moscow, Dec 21 — DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic parliament speaker Artyom Zhoga will co-chair Vladimir Putin’s election campaign headquarters which started to work in Moscow’s Gostinny Dvor on Thursday.
It will also be co-chaired by Tabakov Theatre Art Director Vladimir Mashkov and Moscow Hospital No 52 chief doctor, Hero of Labor Maryana Lysenko who received personal invitations from the head of state.
The HQ will function round-the-clock and is open to visitors from 9:00 to 18:00 on workdays. Putin’s campaign logo features the colors of the national flag reflecting the country, last name and the year 2024. The HQ can hold video conferences with Russian regions. HQ lawyers are already consulting the signature collection volunteers on how to avoid possible violations. Rossiya 24 television channel journalist Alexandra Suvorova has been appointed HQ press secretary.
The Donetsk News Agency earlier reported that President Vladimir Putin had submitted documents to the Central Election Commission to register as a candidate in Russia’s next presidential election. Reports on Wednesday said that the CEC registered Putin’s nomination papers.
Last weekend, a voter group unanimously supported Putin’s self-nomination as did the participants in the United Russia Congress in Moscow. Donetsk People’s Republic Head Denis Pushilin told DAN before the beginning of the Congress that Donbass was ready to vote in the presidential election.
Russia will hold the presidential election over three days on March 15 — 17, 2024.*jk
