Donetsk, Sep 30 - DAN. The treaty on establishing a single customs territory and developing economic integration has officially come into force following an exchange of the instruments of ratification. The ceremony was attended by the Foreign Ministers of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Lugansk People’s Republic, Natalia Nikonorova and Vladislav Deinego.

In early September, the DPR and the LPR agreed to establish a common economic space. The signing of a treaty on one customs space had to become the first step towards this goal. DPR Head Denis Pushilin and LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik signed the document on September 15. The parliaments of the two Republics ratified it on September 22. Under provisions of the treaty, it comes into force after an exchange of the instruments of ratification.

The treaty envisions the introduction of a uniform customs tariff in the DPR and the LPR, a uniform procedure to regulate foreign trade, a single method for statistics in foreign and mutual trade, uniform legislation in customs regulation, including the rules for estimating the customs value of goods etc.

The treaty directly concerns the residents of the region.  As part of economic integration, the two Republics adopted socio-economic development programs for the period 2022-2024. The Republics plan to increase the average monthly wage by 2.3 times to 35,000 rubles and the average pension by 1.3 times to 13,800 rubles. In the public sector, the average wage is expected to reach 29,000 rubles. The programs envision 70,000 new jobs thanks to business support measures and the issue of housing certificates in 2022. *jk
