Donetsk, May 31 — DAN. Ukrainian gunmen have fired some 240 rounds of ammunition including «Grad» multiple rocket launcher projectiles at the Donetsk People’s Republic territory on Tuesday causing civilian casualties.

Military situation

Kiev army units resumed strikes at the DPR territory early in the morning. The western outskirts of Gorlovka were the first to come under fire as five 82 mm mortar rounds hit the Shakhta Gagarina neighborhood. The enemy then shelled the outskirts of Donetsk and Makeyevka, other Gorlovka districts, Yelenovka, Yasinovataya and Svetlodarsk using missile and cannon artillery, mortars, grenade launchers and small arms.

Two civilians were killed and at least eight were wounded in Donetsk, Makeyevka, Gorlovka, Panteleimonovka, Yelenovka, Yasinovataya and Svetlodarsk. Some 20 houses, a hospital, a kindergarten, two schools, a gas pipe, a utility shed and garages were damaged. Thirty-two electrical substations remain offline because of the shelling with 2,329 customers without electricity.

Over the past 24 hours, DPR militia supported by the Russian army, killed 17 Ukrainian invaders and destroyed enemy hardware.

Mariupol news

The port has resumed stevedoring operations. A bulk carrier sailed from the sea port for the first time since the liberation of the city from Ukrainian invaders. A Russian vessel of the type «Slavutich» will deliver 2,500 tons of metal products to Rostov-on-Don.

DPR Head Denis Pushilin visited Mariupol on this occasion. He called the port preparation «tremendous work» in terms of scope and complexity. A part of the Ukrainian vessels that remained in the port will pass into DPR ownership. In the future, the port will handle all kinds of cargoes.

It will become the main transshipment hub for supplies of construction materials and equipment for the rebuilding of the Republic. Specialists have already inspected the port facilities. Electricity and water supply are to be restored by the end of June.

Repairs of the housing stock have begun after the fighting in the liberated Novotroitskoye.
