Donetsk, Dec 22 — The Public Headquarters for Election Monitoring in the Donetsk People’s Republic will make all efforts to ensure a safe and legitimate 2024 presidential election in the region, DPR Public Chamber chairman Alexander Kofman said on Friday.

“We’ve drawn a plan to train observers, share experience with other regions and monitor polling station preparations, ” Kofman told the Donetsk News Agency.

Safe voting is priority for the HQ. “Federal authorities are aware of it, that is why the Central Election Commission has approved a special procedure for the new regions, ” Kofman said adding that the observers would be trained accordingly.

The Donetsk-based election monitoring headquarters conducted its first survey in the DPR parliamentary and municipal election in September. The HQ resumed operation on December 18 following the announcement of the date of Russia’s next presidential election.

On December 7, the Federation Council upper house of the Russian parliament set the next presidential election for 2024. Voting will be held over three days on March 15-17.*jk
