Donetsk, Nov 16 - DAN. Donbass teachers who have made a considerable contribution to Russian culture and philology will be able to receive one-time humanitarian programme benefits from 1 December, the Republic’s Education and Science Ministry told DAN.

“The sum of the lumpsum benefit amounts to 10,000 rubles; payments will begin on 1 December 2017,” the Ministry said.

The benefits are meant for the teachers having an employment record of over 35 years who have made a considerable contribution to Russian culture and philology, it added.

Twenty teachers from DPR and Kiev-controlled areas of Donetsk Region will be the first recipients.

Ukraine’s new law on education which bans instruction in Russian will come into effect in 2018. The legislation deprives millions of people in Donbass and other regions of Ukraine of their right to gain knowledge in their native language. *jk
