Donetsk, Jul 13 -DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic hospitals will receive 35 oxygen concentrators from the International Committee of the Red Cross this year, head of the ICRC Mission to Ukraine Florence Gillette said at a press conference in Donetsk on Tuesday.

“We will continue to help medical centres. This year, we plan to provide 35 oxygen concentrates and individual protection means for medical personnel,” Gillette said.

She said that the ICRC had passed as many oxygen concentrators to the DPR last year.

An oxygen concentrator is used in oxygen therapy where a patient is given a higher concentration of oxygen than in the air. It helps normalise the oxygen level in the blood which considerably improves the patient’s condition. The equipment is actively used for treating COVID-19 patients.

Earlier reports on Tuesday said that head of the International Committee of the Red Cross Mission to Ukraine Florence Gillette arrived in Donetsk on a visit.*jk
