Donetsk, Apr 21 – DAN. DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko congratulated Anatoliy Bibilov with his upcoming inauguration as South Ossetia president.
"I would like to congratulate my friend Anatoliy Bibilov with the event, as well as Alania Republic people. We would like to develop full-scale relationship between our Republics, so that our people share the same friendship as Bibilov and I do," he said in an interview to Sputnik news agency.
Zakharchenko said he was sure that the relationship between the countries would become even closer as Ossetia's president had often visited DPR.
"We have a lot of work to do to develop our relationship for the benefit of our people."
South Ossetia held the presidential election on 9 April. The parliament speaker Bibilov won with 54.8 percent of votes, followed by followed by the current president Leonid Tibilov with 33.7 percent, and KGB security service officer Alan Gagloyev with 10.2 percent.
The inauguration took place today in the country's capital Tskhinval.
South Ossetia is the only DPR official international counterpart, as it recognized the Donetsk People's Republic on June 27, 2014. Plans to establish diplomatic relations have been announced. There are also plans to sign a large agreement on friendship and cooperation, and other treaties. *ot
