Enakievo, Sep 26 - DAN. UN peacekeepers will not be deployed to Donbass in the near future; the position of the Donetsk People’s Republic authorities remains unchanged, acting DPR Head Denis Pushilin told reporters on Wednesday.
“Our position is unchanged; it’s expedient to pay attention to the Russia-proposed resolution which says that the UN contingent should ensure the safety of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission representatives on the contact line between the parties to the conflict,” Pushilin said. “Peacekeeping efforts will be successful if implemented after the disengagement of forces and hardware. As it stands, Ukraine has been foiling the disengagement in the third pilot zone in the Stanitsa Luganskaya area up to date. So talking about it would be premature. If we go for it, it will happen in a very distant future.”
He added that it was very difficult to react to all possible peacekeeping mission insinuations coming from policymakers of different levels, including Ukrainian President Petr Poroshenko.
The Ukrainian President, Petr Poroshenko, arrived in the USA to take part in the UN General Assembly on September 25. In his speech he called for carrying out a peacekeeping operation under the UN aegis in Donbass.*jk
