JCCC: OSCE to resume accompanying of Donetsk facility shift workers for first time since 2018
Donetsk, Oct 19 - DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova and representatives of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Donbass agreed the resumption of the accompanying of Donetsk Water Treatment Plant shift workers by OSCE SMM personnel, the DPR Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC) reported on Monday.
“Today, a technical meeting took place at the JCCC between the administration of the OSCE SMM Donetsk Office and DPR authorized representative Natalia Nikonorova,”the repot said. “The parties reached mutual understanding on the necessity to resume the monitoring by the Mission of compliance with the security guarantees provided by the parties for the period of the rotation of shift workers at the Donetsk Water Treatment Plant and Vasilyevka Pumping Plant.”
The measure is necessary to prevent the recurrence of the incidents involving the capture of JCCC officers who accompany the plants’ shift workers twice a day on the route which also runs along the road where Ukrainian armed formations have their positions, the DPR Office said.
The parties also discussed the general issues of life support of OSCE SMM personnel blocked by protesters in the Park Inn hotel.
The Donetsk Water Treatment Plant (DFS) is located outside Yasinovataya and feeds water to both sides of the contact line. The number of DFS customers exceeds 400,000.
In June 0218, the OSCE refused to support the rotation of DFS shift workers. The shift workers have been accompanied by observers of the DPR Office at the JCCC since.*jk
