Donetsk, Jun 15 — DAN. The UN’s statements do not deserve any attention, as international human rights organizations have a long history of ignoring cases of Donbass residents, the Chairman of the DPR Public Chamber Alexander Kofman said.
“The world has split in two, and we should no longer be interested in the UN opinions, ” he said.
Many Donbass residents who lost next of kin and houses to Ukraine’s agression filed complaints with the ICHR, ICC and other international human rights organization, but to no avail.
“We haven’t heard a single voice of European human rights advocates condemning Ukraine. Though when mercenaries get arrested, and I wish to remind that they are not covered by the Convention on POWs, we are hearing howls from English moorland, ” Kofman said.
DPR Supreme Court sentenced two Britons and a Moroccan mercenaries to death on June 9. The men were found guilty of mercenary activities and committing actions aimed at seizing power and overthrowing the constitutional order of the DPR, as they served in Ukraine’s 36 marine battalion and were remunerated.
The UN human rights office and the Council of Europe condemned the death sentence describing it as “incompatible” with human rights. *ot
