Enakievo, Sep 26 - DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic acting Head Denis Pushilin praised OSCE SMM Principal Deputy Chief Monitor Alexander Hug’s peace-making efforts in Donbass expressing the hope for more open and fairer assessment of the situation in the region after the replacement of the SMM leadership.
“We’ve had different periods of interaction with Alexander Hug,” said Pushilin during his visit to Enakievo. “On the whole, there were many positive points in his and his colleague’s work.”
“We didn’t have mutual understanding all the time, but if we look back on the positive and the negative, the former seems to outweigh the latter,” he said.
Pushilin also expressed the hope for that DPR and OSCE representatives would maintain the quality of cooperation and expand it beyond the present framework. “The OSCE SMM is operating within the its mandate, but we’d like more open and fairer assessment of shelling,” he said.
Earlier on Wednesday, Alexander Hug said in an interview to the Kommersant newspaper that he would resign from his post on October 31. His successor has not been named yet.*jk
