Donetsk, Jun 27 — DAN. Relatives of Moroccan national Saadun Brahim who was sentenced to death in the Donetsk People’s Republic have asked the DPR Foreign Ministry to help contact the convict’s lawyer, DPR diplomats told the Donetsk News Agency on Monday.
“Relatives of the Moroccan convict placed a request for communication with the lawyer; it has been granted, ” the DPR Foreign Ministry said.
Earlier on Monday, DPR Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova told Russia 24 Channel that Brahim’s family had expressed the wish to provide their own lawyer.
On June 9, the DPR Supreme Court Appeals Chamber for Criminal Cases sentenced to death three foreign mercenaries who had fought on the side of Ukraine, including Moroccan citizen Saadun Brahim. Investigators found that he had served in the Ukrainian army’s 36th Marine Brigade participating in the fighting for remuneration.*jk
