Donetsk, Mar 30 — DAN. Ukrainian prosecutors have passed an indictment against lawyer Tatyana Montyan to a court, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office said on Thursday.

“The Office of the Prosecutor General has referred to a court an indictment against a Ukrainian citizen who is a lawyer, ” Ukrainian prosecutors said. They did not name the defendant but the photo posted with the report is that of Montyan.

“According to the investigators, the lawyer has regularly spoken out on the socio-political situation in Ukraine since March 2022 using so-called propaganda channels, giving ideological substantiation to the existence of the Donbass Republics and allegedly making public calls for violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order of Ukraine.

Tatyana Montyan visited the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics several times. In the course of her trip to Donetsk in December 2014, she said that the economic blockade of the region by Kiev and its refusal to pay retirement benefits to its residents was “genocide.”  Montyan also expressed her support of the local population and called for direct dialogue with Donbass which was the cornerstone of the Minsk Agreements on a peaceful conflict settlement.

In February 2023, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) charged Montyan with “actions aimed at violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order or seizure of power, encroachment on territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, and collaborationism.”*jk
