Donetsk, Apr 12 — DAN. The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People’s Republic has sentenced a Ukrainian gunman to 16 years in prison for firing an anti-tank grenade launcher in the direction of a 62-year-old woman last spring, Russia’s Main Military Prosecutor’s Office reported on Wednesday.

“The DPR Supreme Court has handed down a guilty verdict in the criminal case against Yevgeny Tkachenko, Staff Sergeant of Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion, Eastern Operations-Territorial Formation of Ukraine’s National Guard (also known as the nationalistic battalion ‘Azov’ which is banned in the Russian Federation), ” the report said.

Tkachenko, who was in the village of Ilyichevskoye in southern DPR in March 2022, noticed a civilian near a house and fired a fragmentation grenade from an easel anti-tank grenade launcher in her direction. The grenade impacted on the wall of the house damaging its windows, but the woman had taken shelter by the time the shot was fired. 

Tkachenko was found guilty of malicious damage to property, attempted murder, cruel treatment of civilians and use of banned means and methods of warfare, and sentenced to 16 years in a maximum security prison.*jk
