Donetsk, Mar 31 - DAN. The World Health Organisation will send humanitarian aid to the Donetsk People’s Republic to prevent the spreading of the new coronavirus infection, DPR Healthcare Minister Olga Dolgoshapko said at a press briefing in Donetsk on Tuesday.
“Under the accords we have reached with the WHO we expect to receive a batch of individual protective means today or tomorrow,” Dolgoshapko said. “We discussed supplies of medical masks, gowns, overalls, jumpsuits and goggles with international humanitarian missions.”
“We welcome the fact that our productive meeting with the WHO helped us agree these supplies,” she said.
Supposedly, the COVID-19 medical supplies will be handed over to DPR representatives on the contact line in Donbass.
On March 14, the DPR went on high alert in connection with the threat of the coronavirus infection. No COVID-19 cases have been diagnosed in the DPR.
Latest reports said that there were around 800,000 COVID-19 cases across the world; some 38,700 people have died. The countries with the largest COVID-19 death toll are Italy, Spain and the United States.
The number of the infected in Russia and Ukraine has been increasing.*jk
