Donetsk, Nov 21 - DAN. United Donbass Foundation public organisation has paid more than 30.4 million ($511000) of roubles worth of financial assistance to over 1,000 residents of the region since the start of its operation earlier this year, Foundation chairman Oleg Balykin told a news briefing at Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.

“As of 20 November 2017, 1,044 payments totalling 30,422,840 roubles had been made,” Balykin said, “535 Donetsk Region residents received a total of 15,985,045 rubles, and 509 DPR residents 14,437,795 rubles.”

The Foundation’s Commission reviewed and approved 136 applications for financial aid at its latest, 15th session on 17 November. The payments will total 3,746,000 rubles.

“The Foundation has approved 1,227 applications overall to allocate a total of 35,450,740 rubles worth of financial assistance since the start of its operation,” Balykin said adding that a majority of recipients in Kiev-controlled territory were Telmanovskiy District residents (10.53 percent).

DPR launched United Donbass Foundation on 9 March 2017 as part of the Donbass people reunification programme approved by DPR and LPR heads Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitskiy on 17 February 2017. The programme envisions cash payments and provision of food and medications which can also be contributed by DPR residents. *jk
