Donetsk, Feb 26 - DAN. The United Donbass Foundation has provided financial aid to more than 7,000 needy residents of the Donetsk region since the start of its operation in the spring of 2017, Foundation chairman Oleg Balykin said at a press briefing at the Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.

“As of February 25, the Foundation had paid 7,160 applicants a total of 257,867,840 rubles since it was launched,” Balykin said.

In 2019, the Foundation's Commission has approved more than 600 out of 2,000 aid requests; the total sum of benefits will amount to nearly 22.5 million rubles.

Earlier reports said that the United Donbass Foundation had allocated more than 700,000 rubles to treat childhood cancers since 2017.

The Donetsk People’s Republic set up the United Donbass Foundation in March 2017 as part of the Donbass people reunification humanitarian programme. Its objective is to help people in a difficult situation both in the Donetsk People's Republic and Kiev-held areas of the Donetsk region.*jk*pp
