Donetsk, Aug 10 - DAN. Two miners died in an accident in Snezhnoye town coalmine No 37 on Thursday, the Donetsk People’s Republic Emergencies Ministry press service reported.
“An accident occurred in the town of Snezhnoye's Colliery No 37, Matrosov Street, in which two miners died. They were working in a dead-end tunnel at a depth of 30 metres with a slope of 35 degrees. An emergency power cut-off stopped air supply into the tunnel. Rescuers from the town of Torez recovered the bodies,” the report said.
The rescue operation involved the search and rescue team from the town of Snezhnoye, three mountain rescue units, two resuscitation/shock groups, one vehicle with special equipment and mountain rescue unit commanders.
On August 6, a cave-in was reported at the Volynskoye coalmine of the Torezantratsit company. There were 16 workers in the coalface area at the moment of the accident; 12 managed to reach the surface on their own, their four colleagues were safely evacuated in a subsequent rescue operation.*jk
