Donetsk, Jan 24 — DAN. The Donetsk People’s Republic plans to set up two new checkpoints on the administrative boundary with the Rostov region and enlarge the capacity of one currently in use, DPR Acting Head Denis Pushilin said on Tuesday.

“We’ll double the ‘Uspenka’ capacity using the old terminal, ” Pushilin on Solovyov Live program. “As for the pedestrian crossing, we plan to build a terminal for the scanner for quick indoor crossing. We plan two new checkpoins between Novoazovsk and ‘Uspenka.’

The measures will help decrease the load on the existing checkpoints. The checkpoint capacity was challenged by a large number of trucks carrying construction materials to the Republic. The new facilities are expected to reduce food prices in the DPR because long truck queues at checkpoints provoke price hikes, he added.

“Price of delivery to our regions is actually 2 to 2.5 times higher than to any other neighboring region, ” Pushilin said adding that the authorities were considering dedicated lane links to the checkpoints.

On Monday, Pushilin ordered the DPR government to find ways to reduce food truck queues waiting times on the administrative boundary with the Rostov region.*jk
