Donetsk, Sep 15 — DAN. All Russia People’s Front (ONF) activists have brought customized glasses and spectacle frames produced by a Serbian company to several dozen residents in the Novy Svet and Starobeshevo settlements in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the press service of the regional ONF branch told the Donetsk News Agency on Friday.
“We’re planning to visit more towns in the Republic for ophthalmology consultations at temporary accommodation centers, ” an ONF representative said. “A doctor examines people and writes prescriptions; eyeglasses are produced within four or six weeks. We were in Starobeshevo and Novy Svet some two months ago, and now people have got their prescription glasses.”
The ONF launched the action in the DPR about a year ago. Earlier, a Serbian ophthalmology company said it would help residents of the new Russian regions and allocated quotas for prescription glasses. ONF activists, together with ophthalmologists help evacuees and pensioners with eye disorders who cannot buy glasses unassisted.
The all-Russia People’s Front is a presidential movement established in 2011. It provides humanitarian assistance and raises funds for army needs. The ONF branch in the DPR carries out numerous actions to support the local population.*jk
