Donetsk, Jun 23 — DAN. Twenty rescuers of the Donetsk People’s Republic have received decorations from Russian and DPR emergency services, DPR Acting Head Denis Pushilin said on Friday.
Head of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) Alexander Kurenkov is on a working visit to the DPR. He has met with Denis Pushilin to discuss the tasks facing the regional emergencies ministry and commend rescuers for their courage and efficiency.
“We’re proud of our rescuers; emergencies ministry units work as a team in the Republic performing their duty effectively, ” Pushilin said. “They are among the first who arrive at the scene of shelling, and they enter liberated areas right after the servicemen to demine huge parts of land.”
Ten rescuers received decorations from Russia’s EMERCOM and another ten from the DPR Emergencies Ministry.
“You have been under constant artillery attacks since 2014, but your work has been very efficient, ” EMERCOM’s press service quoted Kurenkov as saying. “You save others without sparing yourself. Your work is full of hardships, and this situation makes people more honest so they do their best. Thank you for your service, for being not indifferent and for heroic labor; I’m proud of you.”
DPR rescuers have put out some 2,500 fires including 250 fires caused by Ukrainian artillery attacks, rescued 239 people from fires and defused more than 25,000 UXO items in the Republic since the beginning of this year.*jk
