Donetsk, Oct 22 - DAN. Russia will pass medical equipment and medications worth 258 million rubles ($3,361,563) to the Donetsk People’s Republic in October for diagnosing and treating coronavirus infection, DPR Head Denis Pushilin said on Thursday.
“In October 2020, the Russian Federation will provide humanitarian aid to the DPR with the view of improving the epidemiological situation in the Republic; it will supply medications and medical goods (test kits and consumables to carry out PCR tests, individual protective gear, sanitizers, 30 mechanical ventillators, 75 ambulatory oxygen systems, heart rate monitors and other medical equipment) worth 258 million rubles,” Pushilin said in a statement received by the Donetsk News Agency.
The global nature of the second wave of the epidemic, high infection rates, the socio-economic situation in the DPR, the blockade and new strikes by Ukrainian forces prevent the Republic from resolving the problem on its own, he said.
“It is invaluable and timely assistance in fighting the coronavirus infection and pneumonia. The support by the brotherly Russia will help us stop the epidemic and save the life and health of our citizens,” the DPR leader said. “On behalf of DPR residents I express my deep gratitude to the Russian leadership and people for not leaving us to face the invisible threat alone.”
Earlier reports said that the Donetsk People’s Republic had requested the Russian Federation to supply a Russian-made COVID-19 vaccine.*jk
