Donetsk, Sep 21 — DAN. The upcoming referendum over the Donetsk People’s Republic joining the Russian Federation will become the key event in the history of the Republic, DPR parliament speaker Vladimir Bidyovka said in an interview with the Donetsk News Agency on Wednesday.
“I regard the upcoming referendum as the main event in the history of the Donetsk People’s Republic, ” Bidyovka said. “One has to understand that it will also change much for the whole world order which has long rotted through. We are not expecting things to be easy but are confident that it is the right step which will bring the world to harmony and justice.”
The DPR people has been looking forward to it since 2014. Joining Russia will restore historical justice for the region, the speaker said.
DPR Head Denis Pushilin, in response to activists’ appeal for urgent referendum over joining Russia, initiated the adoption of the appropriate law on Tuesday. The parliament approved the 1st and 2nd readings of the document. The referendum will take place on September 23-27.*jk
