Donetsk, Jan 27 – DAN. Tragedies like the Holocaust can be prevented by joint efforts in fighting segregation based on race, ethnics, social and political background, said DPR Head Denis Pushilin on the anniversary of Auschwitz concentration camp liberation by the Red Army.

"Seventy five years ago the Red Army opened the gates of Auschwitz and liberated thousands of inmates. Six million Jews were brutally murdered by fascists in the WWII. Genocide is done quietly, without announcing it. Peoples are divided into groups on the racial, ethnic, social or political bias. The designated victims are not to be envied."

He said that Donbass residents "are perfectly aware of what is meant by genocide."

"We have no right to forget about the victims of nazists, about human suffering. The Holocaust is a terrible global disaster. Genocide must be fought together, with a clenched fist of solidarity. We cannot let it happen again," Pushilin said.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day is an international memorial day on 27 January commemorating the tragedy of the Holocaust that occurred during the Second World War. On 27 January 1945, Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration and death camp, was liberated by the Red Army. *ot
