Donetsk, Apr 12 – DAN. Pushilin said that the statement of the Ukrainian president Petr Poroshenko on a professed ceasefire coming into effect on April 18 is part of his PR efforts.
"Poroshenko's statement he made today at a press conference in Berlin on an allegedly coordinated Eastern ceasefire is, to put it mildly, perplexing. Who has he coordinated it with? The Ukraine didn't even bother to coordinate it with the DPR and the LPR, while shelling their territories."
Pushilin said that it was Ukraine's fault that the ceasefire had not been agreed to at the Minsk talks as they refused to add specific measures to control the ceasefire into the Contact Group's summarizing statement.
"We consider the unilateral decision of Poroshenko on Easter ceasefire on April 18 as a PR campaign element, this pre-election rhetoric cannot be taken seriously."
The videoconference on ceasefire is scheduled for April 18.
The previously announced Spring ceasefire (in effect from March 8) has turned out to be one of least effective and durable.
The package of additional measures on ceasefire control is supposed to include ban on any assaults, reconnaissance missions, shelling, retaliatory fire, deployment of heavy weapons to the conflict area. After the DPR leader Alexander Zakharchenko was killed, the Donbass Republics suggested that the ban on saboteur and terrorist activities should also be introduced. *ot
