Donetsk, May 11 - DAN. The DPR Head Denis Pushilin has congratulated the residents of the country on the occasion of the Republic's Day.
"Dear countrymen! From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate you on the Republic's Day! The Russian Donbass celebrates this occasion with a special feeling as a now recognized state. For the first time, those who have been waiting for liberation from the criminal Ukrainian regime all these years are celebrating with us without fear,” he said.
Pushilin added that over the eight years since the DPR declared independence it has managed to withstand the onslaught of neo-Nazism, gain independence and truly become a symbol of the triumph of historical justice, the resilience of the Russian spirit. According to the leader of the country, the people of the Republic showed an example of how to protect their land, values, truth and future, demonstrated an example of mass heroism and integrity.
“Today, a new stage in our life is the liberation of the territory of the DPR within its constitutional boundaries. Like the entire history of our state, this stage is not easy. But the Republic was born to win, and we will achieve our goals. A peaceful future lies ahead of us. Together with Russia, we will restore what has been destroyed, make our land even better,” the Head said, wishing happiness and prosperity to all the residents of the Republic.
The DPR marks Republic’s Day on May 11. Eight years ago it held a referendum on the region’s self-determination. More than 75 percent of the region’s residents attended the plebiscite. Almost 90 percent of voters voted in favour of Donbass sovereignty. *ot
