Donetsk, Jun 1 - DAN. Taking care of children and large families in the Donetsk People’s Republic remains a priority for the authorities, DPR Head Denis Pushilin said on Tuesday on the occasion of International Children’s Day.

“We, the adults, must do everything possible against all the odds to make sure that our children have a happy childhood and be smart, healthy and well-educated. The Donbass land is rich in talented children,” Pushilin said.  “Therefore, we pay special attention to republican programmes to support young talents and children’s creativity and sports.” Assistance to children and large families has always been and will be a priority for the state.”

He thanked everybody “whose vocation, daily labour and love make the life of young generations bright, happy and versatile. “I wish our children a happy and carefree childhood. Let every child be given love, attention and care. We’ll make all efforts to make sure it happens,” the DPR leader said.

International Children’s Day is marked on June 1. It was established in November 1949 on the initiative of Women’s International Democratic Federation. The DPR traditionally celebrates this day by organising various cultural, entertainment, educational and sport events and charity actions focused on childhood protection and support of young generations.*jk
