Donetsk, Sep 13 - DAN. Acting Donetsk People’s Republic Head Denis Pushilin has called for returning nationalised markets and companies to previous owners.
“As for the markets, we objective is to return the private markets to the owners,” Pushilin said at a meeting with DPR district and town administration heads on Thursday.
“The government will keep the markets that went into private ownership through illegal schemes. As for the markets built with the owners’ money, (their nationalisation - eds Donetsk News Agency) is out of the question. The nationalised property will be run by municipal administrations,” he said.
The decision will be brought forward at the upcoming session of the parliament for passing the appropriate regulations.
The Republic began the de facto transfer of trade areas into state ownership in April 2016. The Donbass Markets state-owned enterprise was established on March 18, 2015 by the DPR Council of Ministers’ decision to facilitate the transfer.
On September 7, the DPR People’s Council (parliament) appointed Denis Pushilin acting Head of the Republic. The parliament set November 11 as the date for parliamentary and Head of the Republic elections.*jk
