Donetsk, Jul 13 - DAN. Personnel at the Welfare and Government Services Centre at the Alexandrovka crossing point near Donetsk paid cash benefits to two participants in the 1945 war with Japan on Thursday, DPR Labour and Social Policy Ministry press service said.

“Today, two lumpsum Victory Day payments were made at Alexandrovka crossing point to World War II veterans who participated in the fighting against Imperial Japan until 3 September 1945,” the press service said.

The money was handed out to daughters of the veterans were unable to come in person for health reasons.

Also on Thursday, the 74th Victory Day lumpsum payment was made to a World War II veteran under the humanitarian programme.

DPR began to pay 10,000-rouble and 6,000-rouble one-time cash allowances to Great Patriotic War veterans and World War II veterans who fought against Japan on 15 March and 1 July, respectively. The recipients can request the payment in Ukrainian hryvnas at 2:1 rate. The two kinds of lumpsum payments can be collected until December 20, 2017.*jk
