Donetsk, Mar 22 – DAN. DPR authorities on Thursday began to make payments to World War II veterans living in Kiev-controlled part of Donetsk Region as part of the humanitarian Donbass people reunification programme.

“Today, the first payment in the amount of 5,000 hryvnas was made at Elenovka Post office to a relative of a WW II veteran living in Volnovakha district,” state-owned Pochta Donbassa postal service told Donetsk News Agency.

WW II veterans living in Kiev-controlled areas of Donetsk Region are entitled to lumpsum payments in the period from 15 March to 30 September at four post offices opened in Donetsk, Gorlovka, Elenovka and Krasnoarmeiskoye village in DPR south. The payment is worth 10,000 roubles or 5,000 hryvnas depending on the recipient's request.

On February 17 DPR and LPR Heads Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitskiy launched the program of humanitarian assistance for residents of Kiev-occupied part of Donbass. The main objective is to provide financial, educational and medical aid to vulnerable social groups. *jk
