Donetsk, Jan 31 - DAN. DPR head Alexander Zakharchenko and acting LPR head Leonid Pasechnik on Wednesday signed a protocol of intent to promote closer economic cooperation and establish one customs space, the DPR head administration’s press service said.

“During their meetings, the heads of states signed a protocol of intent paving way to closer economic cooperation between the Republics and creating common customs space,” the press service said in a statement received by Donetsk News Agency

The parties also signed a cargo and passenger transportation cooperation agreement between Donetsk Railways and Lugansk Railways.

Zakharchenko said it was a milestone in relations between the two Republics. These documents “open a new stage in the Republics’ development,” he said. They will promote and strengthen our economic cooperation. The protocol of intent allows for our closer economic cooperation; it also shows our economy that we stand united and indivisible.”

“We have nothing to quarrel over: we have one people, one land, one objective,” Pasechnik said. “The Protocol will be very useful to our economies and prevent political speculations over interaction between our territories. Of course, it will be a guarantor of social stability of our Republics.”
