Donetsk, Jul 13 - DAN. DPR courts accepted almost 42,000 cases for hearing in the first half of this year, the Republic’s Supreme Court chairman Eduard Yakubovskiy told a news conference at Donetsk News Agency on Thursday.
“DPR courts of general jurisdiction filed 41,598 cases and materials in the first half of 2017,” Yakubovskiy said. “As many as 31,774 cases have been reviewed, or 76.38 percent of all accepted cases.”
DPR began to establish its judicial system in the autumn of 2014 by setting up general jurisdiction courts and the Republic's Court of Arbitration. The judicial bodies were launched on 22 October 2014 pursuant to the Council of Minister’s resolution.
The first 44 judges were appointed by DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko’s decrees No 2 and No 3 dated 9 January 2015. In mid-June, another 24 DPR judges took an oath of office.*jk
