Donetsk, Aug 31 – DAN. Donetsk residents and visitors of the city are bringing flowers to the site where DPR first Head Alexander Zakharchenko was killed two years ago.

"Times goes by, but the pain does not go. We remember him every day, I read requiem every day. He was like a family member, he felt so close. We'll never have another one like Zakharchenko. May he rest in peace," said Tamara, a resident of Donetsk.

Another woman who attended the ceremony said that the late DPR Head "did everything for people, everyone loved him".

Former members of the People's Militia who fought together with Zakharchenko remembered him as a "commander who'd rather lose two vehicles instead of a single man".

The DPR commemorated the memory of its first leader with a rally next to his grave at the Donetskoye More cemetery. In the morning, Republican officials laid flowers to the memorial board in the city center.
