Donetsk, Jul 11 - DAN. Donetsk Railways (DonZhD) has carried almost 500,000 passengers since the beginning of this year, DPR Transport Ministry press service reported on Tuesday.
“Donetsk Railways commuter transportation volume amounted to 431,000 passengers in the first half of 2017, a three-fold increase year-on-year. Passenger trains were used by more than 60,000 people, twice as many compared with the same period last year”, the report said.
The overall passenger volume increased by almost three times from 2016.
Donetsk Railways is DPR’s main transport system and a key element of the Republic’s economy. Its primary objective is to ensure uninterrupted and safe transportation of cargoes and passengers.
The company currently operates 37 commuter trains along various routes and two passenger trains linking Yasinovataya with Lugansk and Uspenskaya.*jk
