Donetsk, Oct 30 — DAN. Dagestan Republic representatives have volunteered to contribute to the organization of Unity Day events in Mariupol, city mayor Oleg Morgun said after a meeting with Dagestan officials on Monday.
Morgun said that South Ossetia Merited Artist Igor Tasoyev’s group would perform at the show at a Mariupol school assembly hall.
Russia has marked Unity Day on November 4 since 2004. It honors the year 1612 events when people’s militia led by Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky liberated Moscow from the Polish invaders. Historically, the holiday is related to the end of the Time of Troubles in Russia in the 17th century.*jk
