Donetsk, Apr 5 - DAN. The number of the Phoenix mobile operator’s 3G network users has approached 55,000, the Donetsk People’s Republic Communications Ministry press service told the Donetsk News Agency on Thursday.
“As of today, 54,551 Phoenix customers are 3G network users,” a Ministry representative said adding that data transfer speed was 2 to 6 Mb/s.
Phoenix test-launched the 3G network on December 25, 2017. However, voice traffic and SMS messaging were not initially provided; the full package of services became available to customers in Donetsk, Makeyevka and Gorlovka from March 14. The company aims to launch 3G networks in all large towns across the Republic.
Phoenix is the first DPR mobile operator covering the whole territory of the republic. It was test-launched in June 2015 and began full-fledged operation in February 2016. After Vodafone was shut down in the DPR on January 11, 2018, the number of customers jumped to 1.2 million.*jk
