Donetsk, Oct 9 - DAN. A prayer and a memorial meeting have been held at Alexander Zakharchenko’s grave in the Donetskoye More cemetery.

After the prayer for the dead, the attendees observed a minute of silence in memory of the deceased.

“It’s an irrecoverable loss,” Pushilin said. “We’ll clench our fists and teeth and keep on fighting and struggling, to shape our Republic into the country which was Alexander Zakharchenko’s dream and objective.”

Bibilov noted Zakharchenko’s role in the DPR struggle for freedom. “HIs name will be like a flag, like a symbol of the Republic's freedom,” he said.

Activist Natalia Volkova, who survived the blast that killed Zakharchenko, attended the ceremony, too. “He was a great person, a great leader,” she said. “I once told him that I regarded him as one of the best leader in history. He’d always been fair and honest and acted according to conscience.”

A flower-laying ceremony followed.
