Donetsk, Jan 20 — DAN. Mariupol’s Civil Registration Office has reported more than 340 births in the city from April through December 2022, mayor Konstantin Ivaschenko said on Friday.
“The news shared by the city Civil Registration Office truly warms the heart, ” Ivaschenko said. “It registered 344 newborns from the beginning of its operation on April 20 through December 31, 2022.”
“I note 174 girls per 170 boys, the first such sex ratio at birth in the city for many years, ” he said.
During the designated period, the Mariupol Civil Registration Office issued 65 marriage registration certificates.
The first DPR birth certificate was issued in Mariupol on April 28.
The fight for Mariupol lasted about two months; the precise number of civilian casualties is still unavailable. Most buildings in the city were destroyed or seriously damaged. Dozens of thousands fled the city. Russian authorities plan to rebuild Mariupol in two years.*jk
