Donetsk, Sep 12 - DAN. DPR universities admitted nearly 16,000 prospective students in 2017, Education and Science Ministry Higher Professional Education Department Director Tatyna Denisova told a news briefing at Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.

“Applications to higher professional education institutions were open from 26 June through 31 July and from 1 September through 10 September,” Denisova said. ”As many as 15,670 applicants became first- year students, including 475 residents from Kiev-held areas of Donetsk Region.”

The most popular fields of study were medicine, law, agriculture and veterinary medicine, she added.

Secondary vocational training colleges extended their admissions deadlines. Citing intermediate results, head of the Ministry’s Secondary Vocational Education Department Svetlana Danilchenko said 8,277 students had enrolled for vocational training.

One hundred and thirty-six people were admitted under the aegis of the Donbass people reunification humanitarian programme. DPR educational institutions are still open for 2017 intake.*jk
