Donetsk, Dec 8 — DAN. Russia’s presidential election will be held on March 15, 16 and 17, 2024, the Central Election Commission said in a resolution on Friday.

Presenting the document, CEC Chairperson Ella Pamfilova said that it was offering additional opportunities for exercising voting rights including in the new regions:

1) voting at public places in residential areas where ballot casting can be arranged;

2) voting for groups living in settlements which lack polling places or have problems with public transport links.

The above two options will be used in the course of the three days of voting in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, as well as in the Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk regions, Crimea and Sevastopol (in case of the decision is made to arrange voting in the presidential election in the new regions). Elsewhere in Russia, the second option will be available on March 15 and 16, while the first will not be applied.

Earlier reports said that the Federation Council upper house of the Russian parliament set the next presidential election for March 17, 2024. The CEC is expected to announce within the next few days whether the voting in the presidential election will be held in the new regions. The number of election campaigns with three-day voting has been steadily increasing in Russia. In 2022, it was applied for 51 campaigns, the CEC said.*jk
