Donetsk, Sep 7 - DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic Council of Ministers acting deputy chairman Dmitriy Trapeznikov supported the parliament’s decision on Friday to appoint Denis Pushilin acting Head of the Republic.
“It is the right decision which fully complies with the letter and spirit of the law,” Trapeznikov said in comments received by the Donetsk News Agency. “We’ve been building a law-governed state for four years and what happened today was right.”
“We showed the whole world that we have law and the Constitution and that they operate,” he added.
Trapeznikov noted that he had had to step in as the interim Head in an emergency caused by the death of DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko. “At that time, we had to make funeral arrangements for Alexander Vasilyevich (Zakharchenko) in order to keep hold of the situation on the contact line because it was a great misfortune for the DPR people amid Ukrainian provocations,” he said.
Earlier on Friday, the DPR parliament appointed its speaker Denis Pushilin as acting Head of the Republic. The parliament set November 11 as the date for parliamentary and Head of the Republic elections.
DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko was killed in an explosion in central Donetsk on August 31. Dmitriy Trapeznikov had to temporarily perform the head of state’s duties.*jk
